The Program is:
Pick up at hotel by your English speaking driver.
Drive to Etna North in Castiglione di Sicilia to visit the famous Frank Cornelissen Winery.
Their farming philosophy is based on acceptance of the fact that man will never be able to understand nature's full complexity and interactions. They therefore choose to concentrate on observing and learning the movements of Mother Earth in her various energetic and cosmic passages and prefer to follow her indications as to what to do, instead of deciding and imposing ourselves. Consequently this has taken us to avoiding all possible interventions on the land we cultivate, including any treatments, whether chemical, organic, or biodynamic, as these are all a mere reflection of the inability of man to accept nature as she is and will be.
Frank Cornelissen used to ferment his grapes in amphora but now prefers to use small fermenting bins and then transfer the wine to amphora for aging.
Visit and wine tasting. Then move to Tenuta delle Terre Nere , fruit of over 30 years of passion and work in the world of fine wine. And an extraordinary location, as well - this "island within an island" that is the Etna - that my brother and I chose. And that, I sometimes believe, actually chose us. A place where nature is prodigal but also severe. And here I try with all my heart to express as purely as possible the refined and multifaceted microcosm of this ancient volcanic land. With respect, care and hard farm work, always in organic balance.
