Start your 7-day guided wine tour of Sicily in style
The tour will start in Taormina via a private shuttle service from the airport of Catania. You will spend the night at a 5-star hotel and, on your first day, you will have time to explore this town on your own.
The second day we will pay a visit to Mount Etna, Europe’s largest active volcano. We will have lunch at cellar Benanti, one of the local finest cellars, whereas in the afternoon,n we will be heading to the cellar of Barone di Villagrande at the foot of Mount Etna.
On the third day, we will take you to the talked-about farm of Frank Cornelissen, where alternative winemaking techniques are adopted in harmony with nature. We will eventually move to Tenuta delle Terre Nere, still by Mount Etna, where we will take a guided tour with wine tasting in Sicily.
The wonders of the wine tour of baroque Sicily
On the fourth day, we will explore Siracusa and Noto. Among the unmissable wonders are L’orecchio di Dionigi (Dionigi’s Ear) and the elegant island of Ortigia with its medieval walkways and baroque-style houses lining along one another. On our way to Noto we will pay a visit to Feudo Maccari, an ancient baroque-style estate with guided tour, lunch and wine tasting. We will sleep at Villadorata Country House, a wonderful boutique hotel nestled among olive trees, almond groves, citrus fruits and biodynamically cultivated vineyards.
On the fifth day, we will go to estate Buonivini, with wine tastings and lunch included, while in the afternoon we will head to Marzamemi, an ancient and characteristic fishing village within a fabled atmosphere and known for the local tuna.
The final days of the wine tour in Sicily
The sixth day will start with a tour around the winemaking company Cos and farmhouse Agli Aromi, where over 120 varieties of native plants and aromatic herbs are grown. You will stay overnight at Locanda Gulfi, a wine-inspired boutique hotel located in Ragusa, where we will be dining with tastings of wine.
On the sixth day, baroque style and chocolate will meet: It will be time to browse Ragusa and Modica by paying homage to Antica Dolceria Bonajuto (Bonajuto Ancient Pastry Shop), Sicily’s most ancient bakery, with a special tasting of Modica chocolate. The eighth and last day will end with a breakfast at the hotel and departure from Palermo after a plentiful week spent amidst the flavours and aromas of this wonderful land.
