Food and wine tour of Sicily and the Aeolian Islands
Anthony Giglio and Sal Rizzo from the cooking school DeGustibus will let you discover a village around Sicily through a tour focusing on this region’s best wines and dishes. We will sample some of Italy’s best wine cellars, such as Regaleali, Donnafugata, Planeta, Capofar, Hauner and Cottanera, and stay at upscale accommodations during an 8-day food and wine tour of Sicily and the Aeolian islands designed for a maximum of 20 persons.
Culinary art and wine tasting in Sicily
The itinerary starts from Tenuta Regaleali, where the Tasca family, who have been running the estate for eight generations, will extend you a warm welcome offering you special wine tastings including 29 labels.
On the second day after breakfast, we will head to the cooking school run by the Tasca family, Case Vecchie, where we will learn how to prepare some of Sicily’s traditional recipes whereas wine tastings will go on in the afternoon. A sunset dinner will end this perfect day.
On the third day, we will reach Agrigento, where you will be enchanted by its famous archaeological park, La Valle dei Templi (The Valley of the Temples). Here we will provide you with a private tour with lunch and wine tasting with a view over the temples.
Trip to the Aeolian Islands
On the fourth day of the food and wine tour of Sicily, we will relocate to Milazzo and later set off to the Aeolian Islands, an archipelago of volcanic isles. We will sleep at Capofaro Resort, a luxury estate graced with vineyards and a breathtaking sea view. Here we will pay a visit to cellar of Hauner and reach Panarea, Stromboli and Lipari with plenty of time at your disposal to relax and enjoy these mystical islands.
We will spend three days on the Aeolian Islands and then get to Taormina, a world-famous locality with stunning views. Here we will stay at Belmond Grand Hotel Timeo, an upscale property sitting in the historic centre. The last visit and tasting will be in Cottanera, a cellar situated on the lava soil of Etna’s northern side.
We will enjoy the last day with a free tour around Taormina and have a final dinner to worthily bid farewell to Sicily, a land rich in magical spots and postcard-like backdrops to be enjoyed in person over a trip which will remain embedded in your heart.
