On the second day, we will be arranging cooking courses with a lunch accompanied by wine tastings in Sicily, whereas in the afternoon we will pay a visit to cellar Planeta Ulmo, one of the island’s best wine cellars in Valle del Belice (Belice Valley) in the town of Sambuca. Once the visit ends, you may choose whether you wish to explore Selinunte’s Archaeological Park.
On the third day, we will go to the Salt Pans between Trapani and Marsala, where we will admire the ancient salt extraction techniques from sea water and visit the windmills with sea-view lunch. In the afternoon, we will reach Tenuta Gorghitondi standing across a WWF Natural Reserve, a true example of a unique and complete balance between winemaking and nature. When the day comes to a close, we will browse the winemaking company Florio, where we will savour the sweet wine Marsala before returning to Tenuta Planeta.
Segesta, Monreale and Palermo
On the fourth day of the wine tour in Sicily, we will head to Segesta and, after paying a visit to the temple and theatre, we will continue towards Erice, a medieval hill boasting a breathtaking view over the surrounding panorama. Here we will stop at the famous pastry shop of Maria Grammatico, the last stage on schedule before going back to the hotel.
On the fifth day, escorted by a tour guide, we will wander around Monreale and Palermo. A tour amidst historic cathedrals, traditional street markets, local neighbourhoods and baroque-style buildings staying at a 4-star hotel right in the centre of this beautiful locality.
Culinary finale of the wine and cooking tour of Sicily
The sixth day will focus on winemaking and cooking classes at Tenuta Regaleali, one of Sicily’s most important wine producers, where a professional cooking school lying between vineyards will teach you the tricks for preparing the caponata, arancini and cannoli, some of this island’s most tasteful and loved delicacies.
On the seventh and last day of this tour, we will set out exploring Cefalù. We will first stop in Castelbuono, an enchanting medieval town on the Madonie mountain range, where we will visit the wine maker Santa Anastasia and enjoy a wine tasting. We will eventually head to Cefalù and its old town, a great jewel of Arab-Norman architecture, to then come back for the last night in Palermo, from where we will leave the following morning.
