Luxury wine tour of Sicily 2017

Our wine luxury tour around Sicilia will show you an unheard-of route arranged around some of the island’s best wine cellars: from Benanti to Barone di Villagrande, from Tasca d’Almeria to Gulfi travelling through Cos. An intimate 7-night wine tour in Sicily with stays at upscale hotels and with lots of time to dedicate to yourself and the pleasures of life exploring the wonders of this land.

How the tour begins

We will start our luxury tour wine of Sicily by visiting Taormina: A private shuttle service will pick you up at the airport of Catania and take you to 5-star Hotel Ashbee right in the town centre. On the first day, the guided tour is not included and you will take your time to explore all the corners of this town and choose which attractions you wish to visit.

The second day sees a climb onto Mount Etna, Europe’s largest active volcano, with a local tour guide and lunch at cellar Benanti, one of the most exclusive cellars within the surroundings. The afternoon will be dedicated to a visit at the cellar Barone di Villagrande, at the foot of Mount Etna, with a bird’s eye visit on the volcano tasting some of their best wines.

Lemons, almonds and wine

The third day will focus on two of the island’s best known products: lemons and Sicilian almonds. We will move to Siracusa where we will take a tour of the elegant island of Ortigia and its baroque-style buildings. You will lunch at a traditional charcuterie and later head to Noto, one of the Sicily’s nicest and best known Baroque-style towns. Here the reputed pastry chef Corrado Assenza will let you savour unforgettable granitas, whilst we will be off to Ragusa in the evening and will lodge at Locanda Gulfi.

The fourth day, our journey will carry on towards Ragusa and Modica, marvelling at the picturesque walkways and local ancient workshops besides tasting Sicily’s traditional produce. On the fifth day, we will move to the Valle dei Templi (Valley of the Temples) in Agrigento for a private guided tour and lunch with a view. Afterwards we will be heading to Tenuta Regaleali where the Tasca family will host us for two nights amidst Sicily wine tastings and traditional dinners.

Your luxury wine tour of Sicily winds down

On the morning of the sixth day, we will stay at Case Vecchie, the cooking school run by the Tasca family, where we will learn how to cook Sicily’s traditional recipes during a lunch with cook and tutor Fabrizia. During the afternoon, wine tastings will go on at the estate and when the day will draw to a close, we will enjoy a sunset dinner within a truly evocative atmosphere.

The tour will end with a visit of Monreale and Palermo: We will discover their history, their landmark alleyways, unmissable moments, but above all we will wander around the markets tasting the local street food with a free lunch around the town.

After breakfast on the eighth day of our tour, a private shuttle service will take us to the airport, where we will bid farewell to this land, its flavours, climate and people to conclude an unforgettable journey.
