Wine Tour in Noto - Feudo Maccari and Planeta Winery
Wine Tasting ExperienceWith this wine tour you will discover the latest trends in Sicilian wines produced by talented winemakers and share the tasting of wines that will acquaint you with the wines of the Noto Valley.
The program is:
Pick up in hotel by your English speaking driver.
In the heart of the Noto Valley, surrounded by the olives and almonds trees, raises Feudo Maccari, an ancient baroque estate where, since old time people of the area grew vineyards. Here, in the last years of the 90’s Doctor Antonio Moretti Cuseri started his adventure and gave birth to one of the most interesting winery of the area. Today Feudo Maccari counts 170 hectars, 50 of which are vineyards, all of them are cultivated respecting the traditional growth method of the area, the “albarello” and the ecosystem, by the employment in the field of almost manual works. Guided visit of the vineyards with explanation of the “albarello” traditional cultivation method and explanation about the soils and the weather and how they influence the wines. Guided tasting of 4 wines: Grillo Feudo Maccari, Rosè Feudo Maccari made from Nero d’Avola grapes, Nero d’Avola Feudo Maccari and one of the flagship wine Saia, an elegant and intense Nero d’Avola. In addition to the tasting there will be served some typical Sicilian appetizers: Caciocavallo Ragusano DOP cheese, dressed Sicilian olives and white focaccia bread.
Lunch will be served at Planeta Buonivini Estate . The grape varieties grown here are Nero d'Avola and Moscato Bianco. These are used to make the Santa Cecilia DOC Noto and Passito di Noto DOC which are vinified in the "Invisible Wine Cellar". This estate is characterized by an eco-friendly atmosphere
